My Baby shot me Down... Bang, bang!

Bang, bang, he shot me down
Bang, bang, I hit the ground
Bang, bang, that awful sound
Bang, bang, my baby shot me down.

Lilly wears: blazer only, pullover mango, skirt pimkie, tights ca,
necklace primark, earrings madonna.

HJ.

Mmmh...chocolate cake by HJ^^.

The floor was HJ's idea...we couldn't find a better (funnier) place and now that I see the photos, they remind me of those US crime series (kinda). Shooting was a lot of fun *-*. This is my favourite outfit at the moment!! This skirt was really a good choice. She invited me over for a delicious cake and I was happy to escape my household chores for a little time. I also managed to meet my deadline on Monday, but now I am so exausted!! And no time to take a break. Sleeping doesn't really help.

Time is flying, literally. Tomorrow, I will reveal the secret I have kept so long. Only four days left now.
Love and Kisses,

9 Items to Instant-Wow up your Wardrobe

Summer Party.
Evening Bliss.
Shoe Heaven.

The secret to a stunning closet are some wow-accessoires and key pieces. Some apricot heels with bugs? Or maybe a flowerprint jumpsuit or a thin lace cardigan? Here are Lilly's best picks from our favourite British stores and also shoe picks from Görtz. The jumpsuit (Collage 1) is actually the second flowerprint piece I like this year. And yeah, this is probably number three:

This dress looks really fab, I am drawn to it. Saw it in one of the H&M Spring Magazine editorials, but don't feel ready to pay 40 bucks for it...maybe I am a lucky girl and find this in Sale in a few months? Blue rose prints are rarely found though. Oh lovelies, I overslept today (if that is possible on a Sunday morning, haha) and now I am ready (am I?) to meet the chaos at home. So many things to organise and to sort out...couldn't I just have magic powers like my favourite witch Sabrina (Sorry, Hermione!)? I'll just dream of that blue dress...:D

We promised each other to go only Eyeshopping...

Flower Skirt by Pimkie.

...which means that, when either of us sees something great, the other one is supposed to immediately cover your eyes! Erhm, good plan...but didn't work. I am seeing a lot of my friends for the last time now these days and so I met up with my lovely KV to have a drink at our favourite café. My throat is still a little sore, so I opted for a mixture of cherry and banana juice - try it, delicious! It started to rain like crazy (as common for this month) and we headed off to H&M.
KV found a cute long necklace there with a small swallow ("Schwalbe") and was absolutely convinced that it is a dove :D. I tried to stay strong, but when we entered Pimkie, I saw this skirt. You know what? - It's seriously the first flower print this year that I like. I wouldn't wear any other voluntarily. (And for my excuse, it was reduced about 40%...haha). Took this pic earlier that day:

Isn't there something better than enjoying the spring sun rays in a stylish café with some glossy magazines? Now the sky is all grey again and I am sure that I watched way to many crime series last night. Wearing the skirt right now^^. Love,

Extraordinary Jewellery at Nerdbirds

I have a definite weakness for special jewellery pieces! So here are my favourite choices from the Online Shop Nerdbirds. Every fashionista can find unique picks to suit her individual style. My top 3:
  • Bird Cage necklace
  • Strawberry necklace
  • Snow Flake earrings
I am still fighting against my cold with like a thousand cups of tea (this gives a real experience about a crazy "tea party" - you know what I am talking about...). Tomorrow will be great: finally I'll hand in my long-prepared assignment and meet with KV to go shopping...erhm, I mean to drink coffee (seriously, my wallet is stitched up momentarily and not going to be opened for any (fashion-related) reason). So, tea anyone?
Cordially, your

PS: Please note that this is an unpaid post. I am sharing this because I adore their jewellery.

Fashion Rules for the Successful Business Woman

This post is dedicated to Nicki, who is in trouble finding a good business outfit. Blazers are potentially the best choice, as well as blouses or elegant cardigans (Purchased one of the items above, have a guess :D).

Here are a the major fashion rules for business women:
  • Business Fashion Rule No.1: Cover your shoulders and arms at least down to the elbow.
  • Don't wear a deep décolleté.
  • Skirts have to reach the knees at least.
  • No fancy colours (orange, green, pink...) until you work in the creativity section of a advert agency.
  • Most business-like colours: dark blue and dark grey (found out in a recent study!)
  • No glitzering/long jewellery. This distracts everyone looking at you.
  • Do not play around with your jewellery (ring! bracelet!) - this is tough for me, too.
  • Never take your shoes off in meetings. Never. (Don't frown at me, I've seen this already).
  • Wear always (at least thin) tights. Do not walk around with bare legs in the office.
  • No extreme nail polish or make-up... natural beauty and understatement rule.
  • Okay, that's not a fashion rule, but: Don't smile permanently at people in order to make them like you. You don't have to. Be polite still, but think of the cat from Alice in Wonderland: It's frightening and reduces the respect others have to you.
  • These rules also apply in summer. High temperatures are a no excuse, really.
It sounds strict. But these rules help you to find your own approach towards business style. This collage was created on the highly practical H&M Style Guide Tool - love to play around with that (and you have to bear with the outcome, haha). I can't believe that I ordered twice from my favourite Swedish fashion dealer within five weeks. Is this a sign that I am already addictive?
Here is more inspiration on business fashion ideas:

Why Lilly nearly broke her Neck on the Catwalk

"I should not have tried. These shoes seemed killers from the beginning. I should have wondered when HJ already tripped over in them. Didn't help. Lilly - trying to survive the catwalk in one piece...".
Those plateau heels seem to come from an ancient Asian culture! Here are the pics from our visit to the shoe exhibition (shoes through times and ages). At the end there was a catwalk (with a cool screen playing fashion show videos), where visitors could try on all sorts of shoes. And I had to try them out - bad idea, very bad. I pity all professional models. Walking in heels is difficult enough, if they are your size already. Imagine walking, when you slip out of the shoe or its to small for you...this is pure horror.

Cheesy posing. Sorry, my facial expression was to weird. Lady Gaga sunglasses instead.

Whoops, my hair did seriously grow long. Did not realize until I saw that photo.

I am changing between contact lenses and glasses (in case you wonder). Close-up on those strange shoes!

C. and me. Lilly wears: pullover+cardi vintage, shorts hm, tights+earrings ca, ring+overknees six, necklace primark, shoes from the museum.

Yaay! Thats from left to right: C. , HJ and Lilly. Heart the shoes!!

Snake pumps - oh lá lá!

And HJ's favourites. (Cute pose!)

Something must have gone wrong the last days. Due to the sudden weather change, I somehow got a cold. Now I am fighting against it in order to keep working....snoozee. So not fair. Everyone outside walks around in ballet flats and without jacket and I have to stay inside or wear a thick shawl and a winter jacket when I go out - like a total freak!! :/

Whoops, there is a baby chicken on my plate!

There is a cute little Easter chicken on my plate^^. This year I am not able to celebrate Easter, therefore HJ (left), C. (right) and I decided to pre-celebrate with a Saturday morning Easter brunch. Spot the coloured butterfly tablecloth? I have the same one at home!^^(I do not have C.'s explicit permission, therefore she wears cool sunglasses.)

Haha. My hair is going in every direction. It becomes fluffy when it rains outside and the strands take up the air moisture. Croissants are my favourites!!!

I adore HJ's stripe-coloured cups and plates! In this photo, I am wearing my new rose-shaped black ring. Lost the previous one a few days ago... :/

Is there a better thing than starting into the weekend with a brunch? I am really a breakfast person - my favourite meal of the day. Afterwards, we left for a local shoe exhibition (more about this in the following post). How do you prefer to spend your weekend? By the way, two weeks early, but: Happy Easter!!

How to become the Next Big Thing in Fashion

Wanna study fashion? You dream of pursuing a career in what you love most - fashion? Than this is the right post for you! I will introduce several possible careers and study courses. The study courses are located in Germany, but you will be sure to find similar ones in your own country!

  • Behind the scenes of fashion industry:
"Textil- und Bekleidungstechnik" (Economical background of textile and fashion technique/business) in Mönchengladbach (Hochschule Niederrhein).
    www.hs-niederrhein.de, www.td.reutlingen-university.de, http://de.saxion.edu/tct
--> Later you work in quality control, as buyer, in marketing or in commerce.

  • Costume Design:
"Szenographie/Kostüm" (Sceneography/Costumes) in Hannover (Fachhochschule Hannover).
    www.fh-hannover.de, www.haw-hamburg.de, www.hfbk-dresden.de
--> Later you work for the opera, musicals, theaters, movies, or TV productions.

  • Writing about fashion:
"Modejournalismus" (Fashion Editor/Journalist) in Hamburg (AMD, Akademie Mode und Design).
    www.amdnet.de
--> You learn how to produce editorials & fashion articles, to do interviews/TV productions, build marketing-strategies, styling and fashion photography.

  • Designing fashion:
"Modedesign" (Fashion Design), e.g. in Trier, Reutlingen, Halle.
    www.fh-trier.de, www.td.reutlingen-university.de, www.burg-halle.de
--> You learn to create your own collections and to discover your own style.

  • More study programmes:

    "Fashion and Branding" (Modemarketing)
    "Textiltechnik" (Textile techniques)

  • More possible fashion careers:

    - Illustrator (for adverts/magazines/designers)
    - Stylist
    - Clothes Manufacturer
    - Image Consultant/Assistant
    - Retailer
    - Fashion Buyer/Merchandiser
    - Shop-/Boutique Owner
How do I find the right choice for me?

- Do a lot of online research, look at the study curriculum, consider your strenghts.
- Ask people who already study your desired subject about their experiences.
- Visit the school/university when they have "open door day".
- Do an internship in your desired area - reality may hit you and you get to know the everyday work and the work atmosphere (highly recommendable!!!).

How am I successful?

- I'll make it short:
- You need beside some raw talent: the right attitude, good connections, you have to work hard - and yes, luck also plays an important role! But if you really want it, you will make your way - and become the next big thing in the fashion industry!

I would like to hear if any of my readers are already studying fashion or have in mind to potentially do so. Hopefully I provided you with some good tipps and career inspiration ;).
Love,

PS.: Lilly is not studying fashion. My most favourite subject of study lays in another area, which I am following with passion. I am still a fashionista though.

Burda DIY-Magazine Editorial

This editorial is featured in the German DIY-Magazine Burda. All of those creations make me so envious! I wish I could sew a little better to work with the including patterns! The tunica in the first pic and the blue vest in the second are my favourite. The shooting-location is chosen carefully well! I will take a look in the "Burda - Easy fashion" magazine (an easier spin-off). No sewing-machine within reach though...damn. A girl can dream!

This morning I met with HJ and her friend C. to have a tasty brunch together. My breakfast preferences are: croissant with chocolate, an egg, coffee/orange juice and (occassionally) a glass of sparkling whine - perfect! Later we visited a shoe exhibition and took some cheesy shoe pictures (coming soon), as well as some serious catwalk-training (lol). I will make dinner now and try on my recent H&M order (could not find the time for this for now about four days, argh!!).
Love and Kisses,
